Discrimination A Long Way From The Color Of Their Skin...

Discrimination has come a long way from where it used to be. People are starting to realize that hating other people just for the color of their skin is ignorant and petty. Just because someone is different than you is no reason to show little tolerance towards them. Take in the differences with open arms, make the people who may be different then you feel welcome. The progress that has been made with discrimination is outstanding, however, there is always going to be people who are too full of themselves to realize that just because people are different does not mean they should be excluded or run out of town. Barnlund recognizes the intolerance and writes, â€Å"If people currently show little tolerance or talent for encounters with alien cultures, how can they learn to deal with constant and inescapable coexistence?† (Barnlund 49). The answer to his question is that they will never learn. People who are intolerant of alien cultures are doomed to eternal hatred of the world they live in. People are immigrating all around the world, there are constantly knew people entering foreign lands and calling it home. The problem is, they may not feel at home if they do not feel welcomed by the few intolerant people/groups in the world. The most common point of discrimination is skin color. If someone was born with darker skin back in the day they would be discriminated against.
